2024 Neighbourhood Survey

Without knowing our neighbours, we miss out on all sorts of ways in which they could enrich our lives -- from borrowing a cup of sugar to benefitting from their special skills -- according to journalist Peter Lovenheim  neighbourhoods matter. Glen Allan matters to the volunteers who form the Gilmore Park Community League. Please take a few minutes to complete a NEIGHBOURHOOD SURVEY  and help shape the health, safety and connectivity of our Sherwood Park neighbourhood!

Newsletter Project Coordinator Position - Apply by March 25!

Newsletter Project Coordinator The Gilmore Park Community League (GPCL) is looking for a Glen Allan resident to assist with a neighbourhood newsletter project. The Newsletter Project Coordinator, will be responsible for compiling content, seeking business support, layout design, printing, and delivery of newsletters.  This is a one-month project to be completed by May 1, 2024. The Coordinator will be compensated with an honorarium of up to $500. The time commitment is 15-20 hours. Youth ages 16-24 are welcome and encouraged to apply. Responsibilities: Plan a timeline for completion of project tasks  Communication with contacts (businesses, volunteers, suppliers & neighbours) Draft and deliver letters to potential business supporters Research printing and delivery costs within budget Compile newsletter content with the help of volunteers  Create an engaging and visually appealing newsletter layout Bundle newsletters for Can

February Community Dates

This year the Gilmore Park Community League would like to celebrate the month of February by hosting a number of community Dates. Connect with each other over the month by meeting a new neighbour over coffee or tea, going for a walk with a friend, making a card for a loved one or neighbour, enjoying the story of Bob Marley at Movie Night or joining in on a free skate at GARC. Holiday Spirit Awards

Who is Merry & Bright in Glen Allan? There are 3 ways to nominate a neighbour who demonstrates holiday spirit. 1 - Nominate a neighbour whose house decorations are Merry & Bright! 2 - Nominate a neighbour 18 & under who has made a Merry & Bright gingerbread house! 3 - Nominate a neighbour of any age who makes your life Merry & Bright by lending a helping hand! Share a picture and/or story on our  Facebook group  or email gilmorepark@live.com  by December 22 . Nominee's will be entered to win a $50  Pasta Pantry  gift card! Winners will be announced on gilmorepark.ca on December 23.

Haunted Forest & Jack-O-Lantern Walk - October 28

This year 16 youth are taking the lead to bring a Haunted Forest and Jack-O-Lantern Walk to Gilmore Park on   Saturday, October 28 . Here is how you can help make this neighbourhood event a scary success: Line the path with your Jack-O-Lantern creations  -  drop-off is starting at 5PM, pick-up is at 9PM, register your pumpkins to win prizes. Volunteer your time  or supplies  -  please use this   LINK  to sign up.  Bring your neighbours, friends and family  -  6-7PM is a less scary walk through the Haunted Forest and 7:30-9PM is for the brave. We are pleased to announce that   Midnight Mysteries Radio   will be recording an podcast at the event, plus   The Midnight Sprinkles Bespoke Bakery   will be selling baked goods. There will also be face painting and ghostly gardens to explore! This is a free event thanks to the contributions of Glen Allan residents.   Donations will be collected for the Strathcona County Food Bank.
